Care & Cleaning Tips for Yoga Props
Your props are the quiet heroes of your practice—helping you find stability, ease, and alignment day after day. With a little mindful care, they’ll continue to support you for years to come. Here’s how to keep them feeling their best.
Wood, Foam & Cork Blocks
Everyday care:
After practice, simply wipe your blocks with a damp cloth and let them air dry. This keeps sweat and dust from settling into the surface.
Deeper clean:
-
Foam blocks: A light mist of Hugger Mugger Mat Wash or a mild soap-and-water mix works well. Wipe clean and allow to dry completely.
-
Cork blocks: Cork is naturally antimicrobial, so it only needs a quick spritz of Mat Wash and a gentle wipe. Avoid heavy saturation.
Good to know:
Skip soaking or harsh cleaners—they can break down the texture and feel of your blocks.
Yoga Straps
Spot cleaning:
Use warm water and a touch of mild detergent to refresh areas that get the most contact.
Machine wash:
Most straps can be washed on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Always air dry to protect the hardware and keep your strap feeling strong.
Sandbags & Weighted Props
Surface-only cleaning:
Because these props contain internal filling, keep cleaning to the outer fabric. A damp cloth with mild detergent or a light mist of Mat Wash works well.
Odor support:
Air in a bright (but not direct-sun) space. A gentle spritz of Refresh Mist on the exterior can help keep things smelling clean.
General Care Tips
-
Store props in a cool, dry space—out of direct sunlight.
-
Make sure everything is fully dry before putting props away or stacking them.
-
Regular, light cleaning is often all you need to keep your practice space feeling grounded and inviting.
